A Note From Our Founder, Heather Peterson

Lovebugs Rescue is dedicated to Kaya. She was a special needs Chihuahua that was rescued from a high kill shelter, and later adopted by me.

She was with me for 1 year before she passed away due to her medical conditions. For those of you who have ever had a special needs pet, you know firsthand the hard work, dedication and time they require. Despite her medical setbacks, Kaya was a sweet, loyal dog who wanted nothing more than to feel safe. From the moment I met her, I knew I would give her the life she had always deserved.

The year I found Kaya, was the year I found my passion in rescue. She inspires me to make a difference by helping other animals in need. I want to personally thank the people that were involved in Kayas rescue, her foster care and her medical care. Through rescue, we can make a difference together.
